It was a case of to “whom much is given much is expected” as the Old Boys Association of St. Charles Grammar School Oshogbo (SCGSO) Stanza 789, has budgeted the sum of N15 million for the rehabilitation of the School’s main building, while the building will be commissioned after rehabilitation alongside the celebration of their 40th anniversary on May 10-12 2019.
The association, during a press conference recently in Lagos, said they would also give awards to all living old teachers and a number of current teachers as well as give scholarship awards to deserving indigent students and make payment of WAEC Examination Fees for 50 final year students of the school.
Olaseinde Olusola, Chairman of SCGSO Stanza 789 Old Boys Association said: “ We graduated from high school 40years ago, which is why we’re celebrating.
The school is part of our history, hence the need to give back to the society that produced us.
We actually went to Oshogbo to see the school and saw the dilapidated condition and we decided to rehabilitate our school and embark on other innovative activities.
“We went to the principal and we were given a list of their requirements and so we would be replacing the school’s dilapidated roofing sheets, Louvre windows with steel ones, carry out necessary masonry work as well as repainting the interior and exterior walls amongst others.”
Olusola noted that people do not necessarily have to always wait for the government to get things done, as everyone has a responsibility to contribute their quota to the development of the society.
