In a bid to improve the standard of teaching and learning in schools across the state, Lagos State government have concluded plans to provide conducive academic environments and recruit more teachers for the state public schools.
This was disclosed on Monday 21st October, 2019, by the state’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, during his unscheduled visit to some public primary and secondary schools in the state for on-the-spot assessment.
Dr. Hamzat said that the State Government was set to address infrastructure decay in public schools across the state.
He stressed that the essence of the visit was to enable the state government understand the state of infrastructure and know how well the teachers are teaching the students. He emphasised that topmost on the priorities of the Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu administration was education.
Our government will do whatever we can do to improve public schools in the State and make sure that public schools are as good as any private School.
He added that the state government had planned to address some of the challenges discovered during the visit. He said, already the Honourable Commissioner for Education and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education have presented some proposals for consideration which is already receiving attention from the state government.
Addressing the students during the visit, the deputy governor charged them to be determined and explore opportunities in order to achieve their goals and ambitions only if they faced their studies with seriousness irrespective of the challenges that might confront them in their quest for success.
Some of the schools visited by the Deputy Governor were Ade-Oshodi Memorial Baptist School, Sura, Fazil-Omar Ahmadiyah Nursery and Primary School, Sura; Dolphin Junior and Senior High Scools and Sura Handicraft Centre all in Lagos Isand.
