Written by Elvis Boniface

Tuesday 30th September – The glass house of the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos was filled to the brim with the Nation’s teachers in training. This day not just for any social activities, but an educational one – the maiden edition of NUESA Teaching Competition (NTC).

The event which was organized by the Nigerian Universities Education Students’ Association (NUESA), University of Lagos chapter focused on a keenly contested teaching competition from eight students drawn from various cohorts of the Faculty and a seminar on the theme ‘Teachers: Raising a Dynamic Educated Generation’. One thing was clear; all the contestants were just fantastic in their presentations to a level that the judges found it difficult to declare a winner. At the end, Bello Muntala Stephen from Physics Education emerged the winner, carting away N20, 000 and a plaque. The two runner-ups also got a plaque and N15, 000 and N10, 000 respectively. Other contestants will also be rewarded with undisclosed amount of money, according to the dean of the faculty, Professor Supo Jegede.

After the competition came presentations from various education experts and practitioners including Prof. M.A. Bidmos, Olatunde Samson, Remi Dairo, Mr. Gbolahan, Mr. Dosunmu and my humble self who spoke on the place of Technology and Media in Education.

As typical of the ‘Akoka’ culture, the event culminated in dance, music and refreshment.

Attached are some pictures of the event.
