The newly elected executives of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) University of Calabar were today inaugurated at the New senate chambers of the university.
Dignitaries present at the high-profiled event were the Vice chancelor, Prof. James Epoke; Dean students’ affair, Prof. Eyong Eyong; director of Centre of Educational Services, Prof. Eze Bassey among others.
Highpoint of the event was the swearing-in of the new crop of leadership led by Ajang Emmanuel, a 300-level student of faculty of law in the institution.
In his admonition to the executives, the vice chancelor charged them to maintain and sustain the peace and tranquility currently existing in the university while reiterating the fact that online voting has come to stay not just for its effectiveness and efficiency but for its transparency and tranquility throughout the electioneering process.
In his response, the newly sworn-in president thanked malabite and malabreses for their support throughout the protracted electioneering process while maintaining that he will work with all and sundry to further project the union and the institution at large.
Similarly, the out-gone president of the Students’ union, Comrade Bassey Eka applauded the school management for the support they gave him while in office despite his extended tenure.
He publicly declared his intention to run for his local government chairmanship election come 2016.
Following shortly was handing over of official documents, keys to Car and lodge and other valuables of the union by the emeritus president Comr Eka Bassey.
Others inaugurated included Akpan Inemesit as Vice president; Aniah Paschal as Secretary General; Okori Michael as Deputy secretary; Nsisong Brendan, Alawa John as Directors of sports and Welfare respectively while Abeje Angela and Akpelu China as Director of socials and information respectively.
