Osun State Reverses Education Policies

Osun state government has adopted the reports of the committee on education.
The reports suggested a reversal of the education policies of the State’s former Governor, Rauf Aregbesola.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, disclosed this on Monday 2nd March, 2020, after the State Executive Council meeting.

She stated that the executive committee unanimously agreed to adopt the report of the panel.

She added that the Council deliberated and adopted the committee’s ten points

“The Council discussed the following: school mergers, single uniform, Opon-Imo, name change, cancellation of school manager’s contract,” she said.

“Other points they discussed were enhancement of technical education,the status of Tutors and Headmasters General. In addition, they deliberated the introduction and increment in tuition fees among others,” she added.

According to her, the council agreed that each public school should go back to its original uniform. She claimed that the uniform was a unique means of identification.

She also noted that the state executive council agreed that school names, the former administration changed, should revert to their old names.
