In a bid to reiterate its commitment to the safety of its workers, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has ordered ventilators, environmental disinfectant safety sprayers and vehicle-mounted disinfectant sprayers to sanitise all workers across the country.
While disclosing this in a statement on Sunday May 17, 2020, the board affirmed that the equipment was produced by the National Agency for Science Engineering Infrastructure.
The Board added that all its workers at its headThequarters and outstations would be sanitised before and after closing on a daily basis to further curtail the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the statement, the decision was taken after JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede’s meeting with the NASENI Executive Vice Chairman, Prof Mohammad Haruna, at JAMB’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja on Friday.
“The products included ventilators, environmental disinfectant safety sprayers and vehicle-mounted disinfectant sprayers which could be mounted on both trucks and Hilux vans,” the statement read.
“All these pieces of equipment were locally designed and produced by NASENI engineers,” it noted.
The registrar also appealed to NASENI to review the cost of the products downward so as to ensure wider patronage.
“NASENI disinfectant safety sprayers have come handy even as we look forward to consolidating on our partnership with you and other similar organisations towards deploying more locally-produced equipment.
“The entire workers at the board’s headquarters and outstations will be sanitised before and after closing on a daily basis during the phased reopening,” the statement added.
The NASENI executive vice chairman therefore assured the registrar that any equipment supplied would meet the specifications agreed upon.
