As part of its contribution to the clean environment campaign, Sterling Bank recently donated 35 branded overall uniforms to Kings’ College to support the school’s campaign for clean environment.
The campaign aligns with the bank’s environmental programme, which promotes practices that improve the quality of environment on a long-term. The bank presented the 35 branded overall uniforms to the Principal, Mr. Anthony Thomas and the school’s executive management team in the school premises.
Thomas, while commending the bank said, “We welcome the support from the bank which will ensure that our cleaners are well kitted and can do their job of cleaning the school premises with pride. In no small measure, this will definitely bring about a positive outcome.”
He enjoined other corporate organisations to emulate Sterling Bank by partnering and supporting schools in the task of maintaining a healthy environment. According to him, “Private sector support is required to complement government’s effort at ensuring continued access to quality education across the country. This is important because quality education provides opportunities for children to improve their life chances and should not be left for government alone. More corporate organisations should emulate Sterling Bank by showing interest in a specific area that will benefit students as well as staffs. That is the kind of partnership we are expecting.”
In his remarks, the chief marketing officer of the bank, Henry Bassey said, “We want the best for every Nigerian child and have always prioritised their well-being by championing the cause of a clean and safe environment. This explains our commitment to the ‘Keep Kings College Lagos Clean’ campaign which promotes sustainable living actions and a clean school premises for students and staff.”
Sterling Bank has committed over N500 million to the Sterling Environmental Makeover (STEM) programme in the last five years. The programme is the bank’s corporate social responsibility initiative, which promotes practices that contribute to the quality of environment on a long-term basis.
