This past weekend witnessed one of the biggest learning event in Lagos because one of the leading name in Massive open online course (MOOC), Mike Feerick, founder and CEO online learning giant, Alison was in Nigeria – actually his first visit to the Continent.
Alison statement released before Feerick visit stated that the purpose of the visit is to to meet Alison Graduates and to learn about one of the world’s fastest growing education markets. With 300,000 learners and many tens of thousands of graduates, Nigeria is an increasingly important market for Alison – and one where Alison’s free learning model holds enormous promise to bridge the huge and steep education and skills divide. And in truth, Alison learners both old and young came out in their numbers to meet the man who has revolutionized learning for the last eleven years using the freemium model. An excited Feerick had one on one session with many attendees of the evening before his main presentation. The stories of how Alison has influence and change Nigerians life were awesome.
Beyond meeting the excited, Feerick had some good news for Nigeria learner. In the coming month internet will not be a barrier for anybody as Alison will soon open learning centres in Nigeria. Watch this space for detail.
