The 1969 alumni of Lagelu Grammar School in Ibadan has donated a project to their alma mater.
While disclosing this on the school’s Facebook page, the leader of the alumni association, Ayo Ojeniyi, stated that earlier in the year, various activities were slated “to commemorate the 50th graduation as well as their 55th commemorative matriculation anniversary into the historic Lagelu Grammar School.”
“Plans were then in top gear to unveiling the commemorative activities of the planned anniversaries, before the Covid pandemic trials struck.
“However, in the spirit of true love to their beloved alma mater and their relentless commitment to the LAGSOBA mantra of brotherhood, the leadership has donated 25 sets of modern school furniture.
In his speech, the Chairman, Mr Ayo Ojeniyi, reiterated the alumni’s passion for a renewed commitment to the infrastructural rebirth and total restoration of the alma mater.
The LAGSOBA National President, Hon. Justice O.A Adeniyi, who personally graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, confirmed how elated he was by this great and inspiring gesture of the “69 set and also informed the gathering that “this will be his first official commemorative function, to officially flag off the donation of a project, to the School on behalf of the Association.”
The school Principal, Mr Adebimpe, in his welcome speech, thanked the alumni for the worthy gesture and also confessed how much inspiration he has drawn so far as the school Principal, from the old boys and how much it has inspired him to get active, back in his own alma mater as a “conviction of necessity” to give back and uphold a worthy cause to the progression of humanity.
The school PTA Chairman, Elder Alabi, prayed for the old students and the entire LAGSOBA family while also affirming that the various gestures of the alumni remain indelible legacies, which the next generations of graduating Lagellites must imbibe and be inducted to emulate.
Eminent Lagellites that attended the ceremony included members of the Set Executive Committee: Alh Lanre Ladipo and Chief Kunle Oguniran, the LAGSOBA National Secretary, Mr Yemi Badru as well as members of staff of Lagramms.
