ASUU Denies Government’s Claim

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has denied receiving the sum of 163 billion from the government to suspend its three-month-old industrial action.

In the document signed by the Ibadan zonal coordinator of the union, Dr Ade Adejumo, He stated that it was a bogus claim by the government that such amount was released to the union.
The coordinator clarified that even the lecturers’ salaries are paid directly to the university that later prepares individual’s salary. He further stated that ASSU members donot receive money from the government.
He said it was an attempt to distract ASSU members from the industrial action.
