Bowen Rewards Best Graduating Students with N1.3Million

Three best graduating students of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun state have been rewarded with a sum of N1.3m in appreciation of their academic efforts.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, revealed the financial rewards at the grand finale of the 15th convocation ceremonies held at the institution’s chapel on Saturday.

Aka Oghenevovwero and Oladepo Priscilla, tied as best graduating students with a CGPA of 4.86, hence they were rewarded with N500, 000 each. While, Emmanuel Adeleye, who was third-best graduating student was given a sum of N300, 000.

Commending the best graduands, the parent forum of the institution also announced a financial reward of N400, 000 for each of the two best graduating students. The third best graduating student was also given a sum of 200,000.

Ogunwole, noted that the graduating students had imbibed the philosophy and core values of the university predicated on sound Christian life alongside academic work. He urged the graduates to face the world without fear in pursuit of excellence.

The vice-chancellor during its third town hall meeting said the university was training its students to be self-reliant and job creators instead of hunting for the limited paid jobs available in the country.

In his words, “We don’t encourage our students to depend on white-collar jobs. Our focus is on skill acquisition and this has been helping our graduates after leaving here.”
