Council Chairman Pays School Unexpected Visit

Written by Akeem Alao

The Executive Chairman of Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala yesterday paid an unscheduled visit to Muslim Mission Primary School at Shokunbi in Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA.

While addressing the head teacher and members of staff of the school, Hon Ajala said his action was a sequel to the reports from members of the public that the school’s primary six pupils were being forced to pay the sum of N1000.00 each for an undisclosed purpose.

He warned that collection of money from the pupils in any guise is illegal and anyone found culpable would be seriously dealt with.

The head teacher of the school denied the allegation, noting that she had no idea where the allegation emanated from.

The chairman went to the affected class to have interaction with the pupils on the matter. The pupils who were interviewed countered the allegation. “Nobody asked us to pay any fee,” a pupil said.

Before leaving the school premises, the chairman warned the head teacher and other teachers in the school to be careful of their dealings, stressing that the world had become a global village with people vulnerable to scrutiny.
