In an effort to promote our mission of changing the education narrative in Africa, at a press conference in Calabar on Wednesday 2nd October, 2019, with our partners, Edugist officially launched the first Student Venture Prize in Nigeria.
The Prize calls undergraduate students with big ideas to apply online.
Speaking at the conference in Calabar, the Executive Director of Edugist, Elvis Boniface, noted that the only criterion was that the applicants must be full-time undergraduate students of a university in Nigeria.
“The online system is automated to authenticate matriculation numbers. Thanks to the National University Commission and the various universities management for working with us in this tedious process,” he explained.
“Call for application is ongoing and will close November 10, 2019. Our team will review all applications and shortlist 10 finalists that will make it to the Prize Bootcamp. The one week Bootcamp will see students learn business lessons from some of Nigeria’s leading entrepreneurs and corporate executives,”he added.
He said, “The Bootcamp will culminate in the Lion’s Den/Grand Finale on Dec. 14, 2019 where the Finalists will pitch their ideas to the lions/lionesses – some of Nigeria’s finest business leaders.”
Prizes are stated as follows.
Winner: N1,000,000 (one million naira)
1st Runner-up: N500,000 (five hundred thousand naira)
