Elvis Boniface Begins School-Inspired Tour with Babtist Senior High School

Something is obviously missing in most of our schools. It is career guidance and counselling. In the days of old, school authorities ensured students,irrespective of their class, were properly guided in their choice of career.

Today, it has faded away. In this era of intense economic struggle, parental roles have been shifted to the school. While some schools provide adequate guidance and counselling services on career choice, many others do not see reasons why they should involve in the post secondary school life of their students.

Elvis Boniface and his team are in partnership with both federal and state governments to inpire students in about 1000 schools across the country.
This exercise is aimed at guiding the students through their choice of career. This is done by presenting a role model, who inspires the students through his wealth of experiences.

Today, the exercise began with students of Babtist Senior High School located at Education District 11, Obanikoro Lagos State. The counselling session was led by Elvis Boniface, the Publisher of Edugist, a blog that reports on education issues globally. The rolemodel presented to the students was Mr Oludare Akinlaja, CEO at Yadaversity, an education organization that redefines how Africans learn.

It was an interesting and interactive session with the students as relevant questions on their favorite future career were thrown to the speakers. The model took his time to attend to the questions asked by the students. He was equally impressed by their sense of maturity, modesty and coordination through out the session. I The students were inspired through the experiences shared by Mr Oludare. With the reactions of the students, it could be obviously ascertained that the aims and objectives of today’s session have been achieved. It is left to the authorities, the students and their parents to complement this effort.
