While explaining the reason behind the gesture, Chief Mbanefo stated he needed to contribute to human development.

He noted that the donation was aimed at promoting training and development of youth.

“I have been drawn naturally to creating institutions and schemes for the promotion of human development.

“This was why I had no hesitation deciding on this legacy which I am happy to bequeath today to the University of Lagos. For training and imparting knowledge to young Nigerians seeking self-improvement,” he said.

Acknowledging the support of those who helped to actualise the project, he praised the efforts of the late Prof. Adetokunbo Sofoluwe.

He noted that the late Prof. ensured he got the approval of the University’s Governing Council for the project.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Toyin Ogundipe, lauded the donor for his efforts towards human development. He also assured that the facility would be well managed and maintained.
