“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
William Arthur Ward
Modern teachers do not teach their students the same thing every day, using the same methodology. It will be easier for the students to predict their teachers, and any concepts such teachers introduce to the class will be so monotous and pedestrian that learning will hardly take place.
The essence of every pedagogic transaction is to facilitate understanding. Learners learn new things in every contact.
Then, how would teachers perform, even beyond expectations?
The answer to this question is the step taken by the Chief Learning Officer of Kith and Kin Educational Schools, Chief Kaoli Olusanya . Teachers in the three schools, Kith and Kin Nursery&Primary, Kith and Kin Montessori and Kith and Kin College, were partioned into groups to attend the training organised by Corona College of Education.
While a group attended training on “Blended Learning as a Tool for Maximizing Learning in the Classroom”, another group attended the training on ” Developing a Culture of Thinking in Early Years Classroom”.
Teachers themselves are learners. They continue to learn. The training, which was aimed at equipping the teachers with the modern skills needed to facilitate understanding in the classroom, was loaded with lots of modern styles and tools for effective classroom interactions. At the training today, numerous learning-enhancing tools were introduced to the teachers and demonstrations on the best ways of using the tools to the benefits of their students were carried out by the trainers. It was highly interactive and fun-filled.
For the school who expended a monumental monetary commitment to train its teachers, there are expections from the trainees. They are expected to train others and ensure the students benefit enormously from the training.
