Lagos State University of Education inducts pioneer theatre arts students

The Department of Theatre Arts, Lagos State of Education (LASUED) Otto/Ijanikin has initiated the pioneer students of theatre Arts into the world of acting.

Bunmi Adedina, acting heead of the department said this at the maiden initiation ceremony of the pioneer students of the Department of Theatre Arts of the institution on Thursday 16 February in Lagos.

The initiation’s oath-taking session was co-conducted by Tunji Sotimirin from the University of Lagos and Joke Muyiwa from Olabisi Onabanjo University.

In her address, Adedina enjoined the students to be professional at all times, be punctual at lectures and be committed to their profession in order to attain greater heights in their chosen careers. She said that they were ready to impact so much knowledge into these pioneer students in order to establish a great foundation for other students coming behind.

The acting dean, of the College of Humanities Femi Adedina, in his closing remarks, appreciated God for the success of the ceremony and thanked other dignitaries and parents for making the ceremony a success.

He added that the college would continue to impact lives positively.

“We will train the students to grow in academic scholarship, intellectual understanding, and professional versatility in the various areas of Theatre, Film and the Performing Arts,”Adedina said.

Joke Muyiwa, a Nollywood actress urged theatre art students to be driven by passion in order to be great in the profession.

Muyiwa, also a theatre art lecturer at Olabisi Onabajo University, Ogun State advised them not to be tired of constant practice and that they should be sincere by respecting the ethics of this profession.

“A driven passion in this profession will make you be very successful and famous,” she said.
