Ondo State Unveils Plan to Invest in Technical Education to Create Jobs

Written by Akeem Alao

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has unveiled plan to invest more in technical education to create more jobs for the youth of the state.

Akeredolu said this in Akure on Sunday October 25, 2020, while inspecting the destruction of properties across the state by some angry youths during the #EndSARS protest in the state.

He said, “Our efforts on entrepreneurship and self-development of the youth shall be redoubled going further. The state government is more prepared than ever before, to provide the necessary atmosphere for human capital development.

“Similarly, our technical/vocational education sector shall receive better attention. In a matter of weeks, the government shall, alongside stakeholders, have a critical appraisal of the sector to strengthen it for the maximum benefits of our teeming youths. All over the world, vocations have made more meaningful impacts on society.

“We are aware of the dangerous dimensions which some of us are struggling to infuse into the Ondo State share of the current national concern. It is worrisome. For one, unless we all deploy our ingenuities to a collective drive for purposeful action, no one is exempted from the looming consequences of divisiveness and mischief.”

Akeredolu also noted that all the schools from primary to tertiary in the state which had been shut since last week following the protest, would remain shut until further notice.
