The management of the Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan continues to reinforce its commitment to curbing examination malpractices and enforcing discipline in the school.

The Deputy Rector of the institution, Bayo Oyeleke, while addressing journalists on Wednesday, at the Ibadan campus of the institution said the authorities are determined to ensure that the examinations of the Polytechnic are free from any form of malpractices.

To ensure this, Oyelere stated that the school authorities had ordered the mobile phones confiscated from the students during examination be set on fire, noting that the phones were burnt to ashes at the school premises on Wednesday.

According to Oyeleke, the phones worth millions of naira were recovered from the students during examination in the school and it is the decision of the school to burn the phones to restate its commitment to fighting examination malpractices to the barest level.

“We are here to take further action on our resolve to ensure that the crop of students and products produced by the school are students with exemplary character and those who really work and worth the certificate of the institution,” he said.

He further stated that there were rules guiding the school examination, stressing that any student who violated the rules would be sanctioned.

“There are rules guiding the principles of our examinations and one of it is that no student under whatever guise should come into the examination hall with cell phones but you know that some students are very recalcitrant,” he explained.
