For the nation to witness transformation in the education sector and begin to reap the dividends therein, Proprietress, Doregos Private Academy, Ipaja, Lagos, Mrs. Clementina Abeke Dorego has called on parents to partner with government in funding the sector.
Speaking at the 2017 valedictory and prize giving ceremony of the school, Dorego said since quality education entails quality teaching and learning with up-to-date learning facilities and regular retraining of teachers, a strong synergy between parents, government and all stakeholders is imperative.
According to her: “Quality education is expensive. It requires regular training and retraining of teachers with modern infrastructures. Schools must move with the trend and self-development for both policy makers and education administrators is important. At the moment, government’s little effort is not helping the sector. Parents must realise that they need to assist; even if it is not in terms of school fees but in terms of facilities.

“Schools should strengthen their relationship with the PTA so they can assist with funding; they cant leave it all to government. It is not possible. Parents need to partner schools, so the children will do better.
She commended the outgoing students for their outstanding performances in both national and international competitions as well as in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
“Some members of the 2017 class who represented the school at a competition organised by Intel in the United States, had been awarded scholarships. This set really did well both nationally and internationally. I feel very fulfilled, we have produced 23 sets, and some of our alumni already had their children enrolled in the school,” she said.
Also, the Head of School, Mr. Adebisi Adegbulugbe, while announcing that a total of 96 students graduated at the event said, “This class of 2017 is really outstanding. The WASSCE results recently released is a pointer to it.
The event also featured the presentation of gifts to the graduands and the handover of the staff of office by the outgoing head boy, Folarin Pelumi and Akachi to the incoming head boy and head girl.
