The management of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University has commended Punch Nigeria Limited for donating books on subjects, such as business and entrepreneurial skills, to Nigerian universities.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at the university, Prof. Atiku Yahaya, gave the commendation while receiving four copies each of three sets of books titled, ‘Job Hunting and Career Success’, ‘Managing A Successful Small Scale Business’ and ‘Building Entrepreneurial Skills (Volumes 1 and 2)’.
While expressing his appreciation for the gesture on behalf of the university, Yahaya said, “This is the first in the series of newspaper compilations presented to the university. It shows that The PUNCH is ahead of others. The books will be put to the best use by our students, staff and researchers.”
The contents of the books, targeted to fill the existing vacuum in the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills by students, are compilations of articles on personal finance and management published in The PUNCH newspaper between 2004 and 2009.
Aside from providing useful information on the economic reality facing the country, each book is intended to serve as a much-needed compass for unemployed graduates seeking viable means of livelihood.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sani Dangoggo, also received four copies each of three sets of the books, in the presence of the DVC (Administration) Prof. Nasir Ibrahim; Alhaji Bello Adamu, the Bursar and the University Librarian, Dr Ibrahim Furifuri.
