TFN Introduces Radio Programme for Nursery, Primary Schools

A non-governmental organisation, Teach for Nigeria, (TFN) has introduced a radio programme for nursery and primary school students in Ogun State.

Speaking at the virtual inauguration of the radio programme, the CEO of the NGO, Miss Folawe Omikunle, said it was to ensure that learning is sustained for students within underserved communities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The school radio station is an alternative and a new learning method designed to create interactive educational content,” she stated.

Speaking further, she said, “The interactive education content would be done via radio and print materials for marginalised students, who live in communities without access to technology and connectivity.’’

Omikunle informed that the radio school programme was aimed at supplementing, improving and enhancing students’ learning outcomes in low-income communities.

“Our programme would deliver educational content for students in the nursery and primary school in subjects such as numeracy, literacy, and STEM,” she informed.

She also said the radio school programme would launch first in Ogun through Ogun state Broadcasting Commission and Sweet 107.1 FM from January 18.

Ogun state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, commended the organisation for changing the wave of teaching and learning in the state.
