Train, Retrain Teachers for Improved Learning Outcomes

Written by Elvis Boniface

Governments at all levels have been urged to spare no efforts in the training and retraining of teachers. This is because, doing so has the capacity to improve learning outcomes in particular and bolster education in the country generally.

Proprietress of Dansol High School, Lagos, Mrs. Adun Akinyemiju, while speaking at the 2015 graduation ceremony of the school, urged government at all levels to endeavour “to train and retrain teachers so as to improve learning outcomes in schools and raise the standard of education in the country.”

She tasked students to hold high, the values inculcated in them during their stay in the institution. “Remember all we have inculcated in you in school and ensure the values and cultures of Dansol are sustained. For you to achieve success, you need the power of God and determination and hard work.

So go out there; build on the solid foundation given to you and shine like the light of God.” She also counseled parents not to relent in their roles, as the children need their advice/monitoring now, more than ever before.

At the 19th valedictory ceremony, where 106 graduating students passed out, Akinyemiju said the school was not ignorant of the high moral decadence in the society, hence its resolve to academically and spiritually equip the students.

In his remark, principal of the school, Mr. Esan Oladapo, said that the school had brought up the departing students in such a way that they would withstand immense academic challenges. “We are aware that secondary education forms the foundation of higher education and career development.

We are confident that as they are leaving, they will excel in their respective careers, and be worthy ambassadors of Dansol and their families.” Ochulo Ochulo received the valedictorian of the year award, Bassey Iniobong won the second best student prize and Adegelu Eunice clinched the third prize.
