University Fines Student for Wearing Jeans

A student of the University of Ilorin, was penalized and served a dress code violation form for reportedly wearing jeans and a long polo shirt within the school premises.

The student who took to social media to express dissatisfaction over unjustified punitive action meted out to her lamented that after her I.D card was seized, she was asked to pay a fine of N2,000.

She wrote, “What manner of extortion is this abeg? Dress code asked me to pay N2,000 into the university account because I’m wearing jean and an extra large top. And they collected my permanent I.D card. SMH

While some folks applaud the school for their level of sartorial decency, others condemn it outright, saying it is a way of extorting money from students.

Majority of the students stated that the affected student has never dressed indecently.
